8mm Subsystems [Artecon, Inc.]

Artecon's 8mm Subsystems include Helical Scan Recording technology basedon 8mm media has become the de facto industry standard for backing uplarge amounts of data. Artecon supports both 2.5 GB and 5.0 GB options.The 2.5 GB drives provide transfer rates of over 250 KB per second while5.0 GB devices support transfer rates in excess of 500 KB per second.Both drives are available mounted in the following Arteconconfigurations:

DSU1 -- single, full-height device enclosure.
DSU2 -- dual, full-height device enclosure.
RCU1s-1B2 -- removable canister for DataVault series. NEW_PARAGRAPH.

All of Artecon's tape backup subsystems are compatible with SPARCplatforms running Solaris 1.0 or later. The 8mm subsystems are bundledwith DumpTool, Artecon's proprietary automatic backup software.
